Next up, Good Advice pays tribute to my favorite rap group of all time, Tha Dogg Pound. Their 1995 classic debut should have garnered 5 mics. I had an ear open for Dat Nigga Daz since i first heard him on The Chronic, but Dogg Food cemented his spot in my Hall-of-Fame. And everybody knows how verbally vicious Kurupt the Kingpin can get. This album NEVER gets old.

This DJ...

This DJ.... he get's down! Next up on The Good Advice tribute to classic albums and their covers is Warren G's 1994 debut "Regulate". Even those that aren't up on the g-child will remember the lead single "Regulate" from the Above The Rim soundtrack. Ohhhh, but the album offered so much more. "Do You See", "This DJ", "So Many Ways". I'm listening to this album as we speak. Here's some good advice, check this album out if you haven't already.

Make mine The Chronic

Next on the Good Advice list of suggested listening is Dr. Dre's 1992 gansta-funk opus The Chronic. A venerable hip hop classic among gangster rap aficionados, this album introduced me Snoop Doggy Dogg, and Dat Nigga Daz, two of my favorite rappers to this day. I had this album on tape, cd, and now mp3. The fact that I've been listening to it for twenty years should say enough. For some reason I still have to argue this albums "gangsterness" with my homie Mr. Foulstyles. With songs like "A Nigga Witta Gun", "Rat-Tat-Tat-Tat", and "Stranded on Death Row" it's gangster is not to be questioned. I don't know about Foulstyles sometimes... but I'm sure I don't have to remind you of this albums place in rap history. With that said, if you've never listened to The Chronic (and I don't know why you had not), do it today. That's some Good Advice.

Say It Loud......

Do you ever get lost in all the gay pride hoopla? I mean, we of the straight community deserve to be proud too, right?! On sale now in the HB Pencil Store, the official shirt of the Straight Pride movement... Okay, so maybe it's not quite a movement yet, but that's because you don't have your shirt yet. Grab one (or two) of these from the store, and be proud to be straight once again.

ps: and it's not anti-gay, it's just "pro-hetero". It's Good Advice!

Happy Labor Day!

Good Advice

Looking at my blog i noticed it was kind of bare. So today i decided to start releasing a series of sketches and panels i've done in ode to some of my favorite albums and album covers. Beginning with my version of "Born to Mack" by my favorite rapper of all time, Too $hort's . To me Too $hort's first 10 albums are classics, but this is the one that introduced me to old $hort Dog when i was just a young lad. If you're old enough, i suggest you check it out. It's Good Advice!

Allow me to introduce...

Good Advice, coincidently, is not only the name of this blog, but also a strip I'm working on. Better yet it's a collection of panels I developed over the past few years chronicling the adventures, or misadventures, of Dynomite Johnson and Shane. Some intended for humor, some quite pointed, never-the-less I've determined it to be TOO RAW for syndication. Who wants to work for the man anyway?(pause...) It's Good Advice!
